Angie stretched out her arms to either side to keep her bearings. She was walking as warily as a blind person. Her right hand groped thin air, and she waved it back and forth to locate the tall dark object she sensed was right there, very close.
She found it. Her hand closed on it. She felt something rounded. Fabric-covered. Warm.
        Warm?
        Like someone’s shoulder.
Then it shifted under her touch, confirming her unarticulated fears.  She had touched a real live person who was hiding in the dark, still as a statue.

"What was it, that was there,
in the house?
...it didn't drag chains
or stomp up and down the stairs...
it was the odd way
the shadows fell at night...
too black. Not logical...
in places where
there was nothing...
to cast them."

What is the secret
in The Shop on Wickenden Street?

In the much anticipated sequel to The House on Benefit Street, spunky fiftyish widow Angie Russo is going broke...and takes a second job at a dingy little antiques shop on bohemian Wickenden Street on the East Side of Providence. She doesn't know a thing about antiques,

Don't look in the mirrors.

  Yeah, That Happened:
My Terrifically Terrible Toddler
by Erika Ehren

The typical baby album or Grandma’s brag book immortalizes those precious firsts and oh-so-adorable milestones that are too cute for words. But any parent living in the real world knows that’s only half the story. No kid is that perfect! They’re messy, fussy, wild and sneaky, but you love them all the more for it. Yeah, That Happened: My Terrifically Terrible Toddler is a place to record the icky, sticky, awful events that prove you’ve got a real live human being living in your house and not a robot-baby who lives life by the book. From your kid’s weird obsessions to a tantrum getting you kicked out of a restaurant to realizing your innocent child has learned to lie, it’s these moments that go from frustrating to funny in a flash and you cannot afford to forget them. Keeping track of these memories in Yeah, That Happened is guaranteed to provide belly-busting laughs for years to come.
